i say “calebs route” as in a focus on caleb and his specific mc
about caleb:
• i play the game in english
• in main story my understanding of caleb is that he never wanted to be viewed as mcs brother but played the role willingly out of wanting to fit in with mcs “normal” childhood
• when he dies and comes back as the colonel it symbolizes the death of his role as a brother and begins his chance to “start over” with her (its also not like he had a choice but it was either that or actual permadeath)
• a main theme of caleb is having to play a certain “version” of himself- with the oldest version having feelings for mc. caleb considers this version of himself to be the worst version because he knows he shouldnt be feeling this way (as her brother)
• in “calebs route” i dont view them as siblings as i believe caleb and his mc would actively want to break away from their sibling relationship into something that is not a burden for them to navigate through
• “calebs route” being forbidden and guilt-ridden is especially highlighted by the shameful repercussions of such a drastic change in relationship status not just for them but also for the people close to them
• as for the terms 哥哥 and 妹妹 between caleb and his mc i think it was definitely used in the sibling sense in the past but i think for “calebs route” it would probably be his mcs idea to slowly reclaim their old nicknames (caleb mc a weirdo in my opinion)
• i think caleb really needs therapy and support
• i havent finished the netherlord myth yet and i honestly dun really want to ehe scratches my head and kicks the dirt

tldr; i dont support incest and in my interpretation caleb does not want to be mcs brother anymore if he is being pursued by mc
