HELLO come celebrate my birthday with me! This year my birthday happens to fall on the same day as the monthly Circle Left event, so we have to dance. (We = me and you, yes you reading this)
I might do some other birthday stuff too, TBD! Maybe the day before, Fri 11⁄6.
Also might do something before and/or after contra. Also TBD :)
What is contra dance? – It’s a “community dance” type of partner dance. It’s easy to get into and easy to do. (Like… 7 year olds and 70 year olds both do it! See photo lol.) There will be a class and the class is aimed at beginners; the instructor will help you get your bearings and teach you a few moves. If you can walk, you can contra! (Ask me more about it if this sounds scary and hard despite this all!!)
Getting to the venue – 200 Grand Ave is walking distance of BART and bus. There is bike and car parking outside. If the lot is full, street parking is available nearby. I might drive from my place in Oakland nearbyish; if you’re interested in carpooling that may be an option! (lmk)
Feel free to invite friends / +1s / +2s / etc – This is a public event anyway lol
RSVP? – No RSVP or advance ticket purchase is needed for the event itself. As for RSVPing for my sake, it is nice to know if you’re planning on going (just text/message me), but NBD if you can’t commit yet or anything lol
If you want to give me a gift – Come dancing as your gift!! Or give me money to pay for me to keep falling down the rabbit hole of go books and lessons, because I am unemployed and keep spending my money on go anyway. :) (I am serious!! Venmo: fryingpandu, or Zelle with my phone number)
