It’s only the first day of Albedo’s trip and yet he’s already enjoyed himself enough just by wandering Sumeru City. He didn’t want to leave without getting a few samples and painting at least once, though.
He had found himself in this corner of Mawtiyima Forest after receiving a paper from the Akademiya. His work was finished, and he could have been heading home by now—but Albedo had other plans here as well. He was in search of rukkhashava mushrooms; his memory of exploring a cave with Rhinedottir around this area was highlighted specifically because of them. He remembers his master mentioning them being a delicacy, and that one day, Albedo should try them for himself.
He had gotten distracted from tasting said mushrooms because of the beautiful fluorescent properties of the forest they grew in; a view so beautiful that Albedo thinks it should be painted. He finds painting to be a wonderful opportunity to capture a memory in greater detail than a brain could ever replicate, even if not accurate line by line. Long-lived beings such as Albedo can keep these memories, however they do dull over time, no matter how much you attempt to preserve it. A kamera will also do the trick, however Albedo prefers this method much more.
The alchemist begins to sketch, making sure to sketch the basic horizon line and figure out vanishing points before capturing the general shape of the tree-like mushrooms. Albedo wonders to himself how the mushrooms grow to such a size, sturdy enough to host water pools in its cap. He finishes up the sketch as he ponders on the flora further and further.
While Albedo is beginning to paint on the base flat colors, he finds himself thinking about how he’ll eat it. Should he cook it? Should it be eaten raw? Is it safe to eat raw? He could never fully know at this moment unless he used himself as the guinea pig, and he’d much rather keep a safe diet until he got home—incase of unwanted effects, of course; the distance he travels is already mildly unpleasant.
