Some people on Rentry (and online in general) tend to treat some disorders as personality traits & quirks rather than, well. What they are. Disorders.
Self-diagnosis/suspecting is more than alright, many aren’t privileged enough to access healthcare, even less competent psychiatrists…
However, only you can be truly honest to yourself. Ask yourself the right questions. Do I just want the label? Or help/recovery?
Something I’ve seen a lot is people under the age of 18 diagnosing themselves with ASPD. That is literally quite impossible, considering the dsm-5 makes it clear you have to be 18. Some of them just switch it up for ‘Conduct Disorder’ once called out. No, conduct disorder isn’t ASPD’s junior version. It can be a sign of ASPD later in life yes, unless you get it treated. And yes, signs of a CD before the age of 15 is in the dsm-5 for ASPD… but not necessarily a diagnosis. And again, you can have a CD and actually get diagnosed with BPD later in life for example.
It doesn’t matter if you relate to the surface level traits because this could really apply to anyone. That’s not how psychiatrists proceed. They wanna know the why and what caused [X].
