Biography
[this is rad again. chick hates thinking about his past so he asked me to write this section for him]
Chick Hicks grew up in a small town in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska. He was raised solely by his father. He worked in lighting and props in his school’s drama club before making the switch to join the track team (due to outside pressure).
When he was 16 years old, he ran away from home with his childhood best friend (and future pit crew member) Bruiser Bukowski. The two slowly made their way to California, with Chick participating in amateur dirt track races along the way. After reaching Los Angeles, he was approached by a talent scout from Hostile Takeover Bank and recruited to be their rookie racer for the upcoming Piston Cup Racing Series season.
Chick spent 19 long years as the face of HTB, getting caught up in countless suspensions due to unsportsmanlike behavior, class action lawsuits, bribery and gambling allegations, drug use scandals, and gay bar sightings. For his entire Piston Cup career, he either found himself in the second place spot and/or under the scrutiny of the media’s spotlight. He (finally) retired after the 2007-2008 season, two seasons after he won his one-and-only Piston Cup. Coincidentally, that was also the same season his rival Lightning McQueen won his second Piston Cup.
Chick now hosts “Chick’s Picks with Chick Hicks” on Racing Sports Network, even earning a few prime-time TV nominations. He continues to uphold his reputation as a… uniquely driven and fierce competitor by picking fights and sparking controversies, though most of them take place on set and online instead of out on the track.
